z/VM System Engineer

SYSTEMS SOFTWARE SUPPORT SPECIALIST - SYSTEMS PROGRAMMER

Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania seeks applications for a full time Systems Software Support Specialist.

Responsibilities: The Systems Software Support Specialist will be responsible for maintaining computer hardware and systems software and applications required for administrative computing. The systems are on a server running IBM VSE/ESA and Z./VM mainframe platform that interface with Microsoft software based systems. This person will be working with a SAS reporting system. The person will also participate in a conversion of administrative information systems.

Qualifications: Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Computer Information Systems or related field with 3 years of experience working with computer systems is required. Five years experience working as a systems programmer in a production environment may be substituted for the above requirements. Successful performance in an on-campus interview and troubleshooting scenario are also required. Experience with Banner, SAS, Microsoft SQL, and or Oracle and a demonstration of strong oral and writing communication skills preferred. Preference will also be given to applicants with system knowledge of IBM VSE/ESA and Z/VM mainframe systems, COBOL, Assembler, CICS as well as experience with system conversion. Experience working in a university environment is preferred. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are required to work with functional users. Must be highly motivated to work in a fast-paced environment and experienced in working with diverse populations.

Appointment salary commensurate with experience and training. Excellent benefit package.
